To understand how our system works, it is important to be clear what causes acne to develop in the first place.

Our skin is kept smooth, malleable and waterproof, in part, by the sebum (oils) that are produced deep in the skin's sebaceous glands and continually flow out through the hair follicles to coat the skins surface. Occasionally, for reasons that are still not completely clear, the body produces an excess of sebum and may shed skin cells more rapidly. Together, the excess oil and dead skin cells can block the hair follicle and give rise to an environment where acne bacteria can thrive. As the sebaceous glands continue to produce sebum, the cell walls start to bulge and a pimple may form. This then becomes infected and gives rise to the inflamed cysts with a white centre, white heads, that are so indicative of acne infections.

Acne is worsened by hormonal fluctuations which may be caused by a number of factors including puberty, adolescence, menstruation, menopause, birth control pills, other medications, stress, some skin products and others.

We begin our acne treatment program by using our Orthomolecular Nutritional Analysis to assess whether you have any cell-based nutritional deficiencies which may be contributing to your skin problems. We follow this up with our Homotoxicological Analysis which indicates if you are suffering from parasites, permeable gut problems or an excess of environmental toxins - such as heavy metals for example.

Once we have established your skin chemical baseline, we start with our deep cleansing, pore purifying facials which will be custom adapted to suit your particular skin conditions.

These facials generally involve one of eight types of skin fitness peels, together with ultrasonic peeling and medical microdermabrasion techniques. In addition, we may use aromatic facial steam baths, face masks and healing serums to thoroughly cleanse and refresh your skin and reduce inflammation. We will complete your treatment with a light Mineral Foundation to even out skin tones and leave you looking refreshed and revived.

We also offer a range of professional deep cleansing home care products so that you can continue to effectively deep cleanse at home.

Photo Laser Therapy

Along with our deep cleansing treatments we usually treat acne with Photo Laser Therapy carried out over five or six weeks of twice weekly sessions.
There are two types of photo laser therapy, both of which have given outstanding results. The first uses Intense Pulsed Light which visibly improves acne-infected skin almost immediately by reducing the inflammation of the cysts.

We also use Photo Pulsation LED Panel Therapy in which light emitting diodes pulse thousands of light waves in blue and/or red frequencies killing the acne-causing bacteria and promoting collagen production to help skin heal and minimize scarring.

We complete our laser treatments for acne scars using RF - Skin Sculpting Therapy to help liquefy hardened sebum so that it can be more easily extracted, firm the skin and minimize pore size.

Acne Scars And Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion may have a dramatic effect on the appearance of even the most severe of acne scars, particularly when combined with the other treatments described above. As always, an individual consultation is necessary before undergoing any course of acne scar treatment to be sure that this is the most appropriate way to care for your skin.

Collagen Induction

Mechanism of Action in Acne Scar Treatment.

Collagen Induction Therapy is a new and effective alternative laser treatment for acne scars. Fine micro-needles perforate the acne scar tissue. After sufficient perforation, tiny perforations will be visible on the skin. Only a few days after the treatment, NEW fibroblasts and capillaries will migrate through the punctured scar tissue. This results in new tissue formation to "fill" the former acne scar. New capillaries result in a significantly better blood supply that in return results in an improved re-pigmentation. Collagen Induction Therapy will in general result in a significant improvement in the appearance of acne scars.

Absolute Absorbency

The Digital Micro Needling Device uses very fine needles to injure the skin sufficiently enough to stimulate collagen/elastin production. Studies have also shown that this treatment is more consistent in increasing the thickness of the skin than IPL and other resurfacing treatments.
