Teeth Whitening In Victoria BC
Teeth stains can be caused by a variety of problems:
• Illness
• Aging
• Tetracycline and Minocycline
• Red Wine
• Blueberries
• Tea
• Coffee
• Soy Sauce
• Cigarettes
• Antibiotics - to name a few
The first step for successful teeth whitening is to remove surface stains. This reveals discoloured fillings, the more resistant, deeply embedded enamel and dentin stains. Your teeth are made up of an inner dentin layer and a hard outer enamel layer, which protects the teeth. Stains from food, cigarette smoke, etc., form a layer on top of the enamel layer, accumulating a pellicle film over the enamel. As this pellicle layer sits on your teeth for years, the foreign material gets into the enamel. The enamel, “simply put,” is porous, which means staining agents can work their way into your teeth. These stains are harmless, but unattractive.
Teeth Whitening gels penetrate the pellicle layer and go beneath the surface attacking the stains beyond the toothbrush or where whitening strips do not reach. Whitening Strips lay flat to the teeth without penetrating cracks and crevices. The Whitening Activator is a special custom blend gel that penetrates and attacks these unsightly stains.
Phasing whitening treatments are first, to professionally whiten the teeth and second, to maintain the brightest shade by following manufacturers directions for home maintenance. Sensitive teeth may be slightly dehydrated and easily stained with foods or drinks that cause staining. (Use straws for drinking, etc.) Proper after care, using the instructions for keeping teeth white, will help prevent surface re-staining and prevent irritation or problems that are caused by the untrained public.
For lasting results, an effective at-home maintenance program is recommended. Advanced Mouthwash kills bacteria, prevents bad breath, helps relieve irritations and helps reduce sensitivity. (All products manufactured are produced by FDA approved manufacturing companies.) It is also recommended for those using braces. Advanced Mouthwash is safe for all ages, is alcohol free and does not dry soft tissues. The Cleansing Gel (toothpaste) is a special blend that alters dental problems, improves everyday oral hygiene and boosts whitening.

Comfortable, Effective, And Affordable Teeth Whitening In One Session Using A Combination Of Gels And Light Emitting Diodes (L.E.D.)
Results for whitening teeth are obtained by dissolving the stains of the teeth. The approach to this new method is achieved by using a custom blend gel on the teeth and placing the Blue LED probe close to the mouth. The LED Light activates the gel, which is in direct contact with the teeth and dissolves the “stains” only, without affecting the enamel or pulp. This direct approach has also proven to be quicker, safer, and cause less sensitivity than other light based systems for whitening teeth.
Our exclusive Shade Guide is used to determine the shade prior to beginning each treatment. Up to 11 shades whiter in one hour on aged teeth has been achieved through this exciting new whitening system, all without sensitivity.
Clients having a problem with gag reflex or anxiety do not experience problems with this exciting technology.
Colours of stains include colours that range from yellow-brown, shades of grey and/or a combination of yellow and grey. Yellow is removed more easily than brown, grey or grey-brown (such as Tetracycline). Other stains, caused by coffee, tea, wine, tobacco, or one’s own metabolic processes, are the most common and easy to remove.
Blue LED light therapy has already received FDA approval for killing the “P” bacteria that causes acne. Unlike the Zoom and BriteSmile systems, that treat only the front of the teeth and use hydrogen peroxide with heat, our unique system treats most teeth, front and back, and the gums benefit from the Blue LED light.
This program is alcohol free (does not cause teeth to become dehydrated) and fluoride free (researchers feel over-use of fluoride can cause tooth decay). Researchers at the University of Texas and Georgetown suspect Hydrogen Peroxide in teeth bleaching products is even more risky to use and believe this ingredient may cause cancer of the tongue.
Over bleaching, done by untrained technicians or with overuse of home kits, often causes the appearance of chalky and translucent teeth.
Tetracycline-stained teeth respond best after multiple treatments. Tetracycline stains go beyond the enamel and deep into the dentin of the tooth. They will respond to bleaching depending on the colour and intensity of the stain. Banded stains, from braces, are more resistant to bleaching agents.
