Your teeth are made up of an inner dentin layer and a hard outer enamel layer, which protects the teeth. Stains from food, cigarette smoke, etc., form a layer on top of the enamel layer, accumulating a pellicle film over the enamel. As this pellicle layer sits on your teeth for years, the foreign material gets into the enamel. The enamel, “simply put,” is porous, which means staining agents can work their way into your teeth. Results for whitening teeth are obtained by dissolving the stains of the teeth.
